What is “Green” or “Sustainable”?

What is LEED?

The U.S. Green Building Council developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System as a nationally recognized standard that promotes the design and construction of high-performance “green” buildings. LEED Certification recognizes and rewards builders for meeting the highest performance standards. A LEED home uses less energy, water and natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier and more comfortable.

 

What does LEED AP stand for?

LEED AP is a designation given by the Green Building Certification Institute on behalf of the US Green Building Counsel identifying a person as an Accredited Professional with respect to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. LEED Accredited Professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources and processes.
